I decided to take a stroll throughout Punchwood forums & chat and found many people were discussing the whitelist and acceptance into the server. I will discuss here ALL of the things u need to know and nothing more. So if you don't want to read a super long post, then you can feel free to leave, but reading this will be for your own good First off, many people are wondering why the whitelist application is closed. Its closed for a reason. The site cannot handle thousands of people coming in just for a whitelist application. The website crashed numerous times because of this. If you only want rounds and don't want to contribute your time, then guess what? The doors right there. I dont mean to sound uptight or mean, but its the truth. If you don't contribute your time to this website, then you will NEVER get whitelisted. I guarantee you this. Posting in forums and chatting in the Punchwood chat is not difficult. If you spend at least a portion of your time on this website, you will be whitelisted. In fact, Paul made this whole website for you. Filling out an application that tells nothing about you and then go into the server and never come to the website ever again is not what Paul intended. This is a community. Its a place where you make friends, chat, and have fun. To me, thats what its all about. The server is sort of like a bonus to the whole thing. Moving on, people are saying that they are being nice and helpful, but they are not whitelisted. The only thing I can say about this is patience. You cannot expect admins and mods to whitelist you because you were nice for a week. If you were TRULY a nice person, you wouldn't mind being nice and helpful for an entire month, heck maybe a year. So I recommend you wait patiently. If you are really nice and helpful, you WILL be picked. This I can guarantee also. Number three, I have seen people decide to "take charge" of the chatroom since a mod/admin isn't online. This is considered to be an absolute NO NO. This is called "mini-modding", an issue that has been around Punchwood for quite some time now. It is AGAINST the rules. Heres an example:
Person breaking rule: "I LIKE TO USE CAPS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHA. I AM BOSS."
Person mini-modding: "Caps."
Some people are thinking, wow, Person breaking rule should be kicked. You are half right. Mini-modding is the same offense as spamming and/or using caps. Now, what does this have to do with the whitelist? This problem appeared on chat/forum because people WANTED to be whitelisted and thought this was "helping" and they thought they now impressed the admins and is now going to be whitelisted. WRONG. This create more spam because other people also has the same idea. So now if someone breaks the rules, half the page will be filled with practically spam with people telling the person "Spam" or "Caps". So, in conclusion, this will not get you whitelisted. But what if someone does break the rules? Then heres what you do: Go to the person's profile page. Click the shiny "Report this member" button on the bottom of the page. See? Now was that hard? I feel its better than 20 people writing the same thing. So now, you've gotten past everything. You are now whitelisted! But here, unfortunately, theres more stuff. You joined the server everythings going great, but now, you're banned? Why? You either used X-Ray hacks, inventory editors, etc that gives you an advantage over other players. I would like to say, use common sense. If you think "cheating" is okay, theres something seriously wrong with your logic. Using common sense is part of the rules. And if you say "It wasn't specified", nice try. It shouldn't be specified because its that obvious. If the mods and admins WERE to specify everything, the whole map would be filled with signs with rules on it. Being whitelisted is an absolute honor and taking the "easy way out" using hacks will not get you far. I would like to thank you for reading this far. If there are other issues, please post them in the comments. I hate to post something negative, but its the cold, hard truth. And hopefully, this will help you be a better person in this community.

EDIT: There is an another point that I would like to bring up. And that is being active. People tell you to be active so you will get whitelisted. This is partially true. But if you think about it, most people were whitelisted because of their personality. Their attitude, how they get along with people, etc. This is an essentially important too. The whole point of BEING active is so you can show your personality to the world. All in all, your personality is what you end up getting whitelisted for.
That up there was my old post about the whitelist and Punchwood. Now, I am going to improve that by adding new information, removing old information, and also, color coding and organizing into sections! It's going to be called, THE PUNCHWOOD GUIDE!
I. Introduction:
Welcome to the Punchwood guide! You're probably here because it is in the rules section, and you are a new member of Punchwood! First off, welcome to Punchwood! This post will help you throughout Punchwood and it keeps you out of trouble. So relax, and let me tell you all there is to Punchwood! Enjoy! II. The Forums:
Punchwood is a HUGE forum, with sections of gaming, the MCDS server, Asking Paul Questions, etc. So it would be natural to go over them no? Then let's get started!
1) Rules:
This section will cover the rules, not tell you them, so please read the forum rules before reading this section. Lets jump right in. First off, the forums is a place for everyone to share their information to the world!
Whether it means technical support or a poll about your favorite block in Minecraft, almost everything is shared. So it is important to follow rules so the forums don't get out of hand. That means please refrain from
sharing your skype name, phone number, or basically any personal information unless you are comfortable with sharing it. Also, do not spam, excessively caps, or double post. Foul language is prohibited too. If
you DO break the rules, the forum moderators will either edit your post, remove your post, lock the thread completely, or maybe ban if things get too serious. So keep in mind to follow the rules!
2) Creating a post/making a thread:
Making threads or posts are highly encouraged here at Punchwood. But there are some things to keep in mind. Don't make duplicate posts or duplicate topics. Make sure your threads and posts are appropriate and
actually help out the forums. Don't just put "I agree" or "What he said". Instead, add more things like constructive criticism. This makes your posts actually worth something to the person reading it. This is also
considered spam, and you don't want to be caught spamming. Also make sure the topic is in the correct section.
3) Paul's AMAA forums:
This one is a problem. I made this a section because I want everyone to see it. DO NOT post in Paul's AMAA forums unless necessary. This is probably one of my biggest pet peeves in Punchwood. I cannot stress
enough that this forum is for PAUL ONLY. That means you do not have a say in it. People create the question so Paul can answer it, not you. You might think I'm being mean, but it is the rule. By posting there about
you, (Ex. "Whats your favorite ice cream flavor?" and you say "Vanilla) rules are being broken. So don't do it.
4) Arguing:
This also gets under my skin. Punchwood is not a place for arguing. Its a friendly community, if you have something to argue about, do it in a private chat or private PM. You can get the topic locked for doing this.
Also, if someone proves you wrong, and you can't prove yourself right, give up. Continuously arguing without providing any sort of evidence or a reasonable say, is not good. And you can't create your own rules on
the forum. (Asking for something that will make the topic better is reasonable) What I mean by this is like "A brony can't post here" (No offense to bronies.). You may not discriminate or do something that will offend
other people. Threatening won't do anything either ("You better not talk to me, or I'll get you banned!"). To wrap it up, don't argue in public, don't offend people, or do whatever you want because you create the
topic.
I really appreciate the time you took to write that. I hope to some day be Whitelisted, as I am sure everyone else is. This was extremely helpful though to newcomers, as I now know what to do and not to do to become a more valued member to this community! Even if I am not decided to be chosen by anyone, it is still great to be part of this website, as everyone is friendly, and today being my first day, I have had as much fun on these forums and chat rooms as I would in an actual game. Thanks for this again, it really helps!
I still don't believe I'll ever get chosen to be whitelisted out of the vast amounts of people on this site. I gave up on the server the day that the rounds for the whitelist application closed.
'Super Mario Bros. - Celebrating 25 years of Mario, Mushrooms and other stuff'
Luigi, I have been looking at my odds, and true, there is a vast amount of people to be put on. I have actually been wondering myself if I will ever be able to play in the server, but do not give up hope. If you help out a lot by answering questions and posting opinions, you will for sure eventually be picked, I can promise you that. You just have to make yourself stand out. Make yourself known to the Admins and Mods and show them that you are trustworthy and prove them you should be put in the server. Since I am telling you this down now, I am seriously writing down your name, and hopefully one day we can meet in the Minecraft Dad server. I hope to see you there one day, bud!
This is a great post, you bring up some points that a lot of members seem to forget from time to time, though I think the mini-modding issue is the one I see the most. As I have posted before, joining the MCDS isn't really on my goal list. I feel that there are other people with a greater need and use for being on. What I enjoy are the various projects that I can get in on here, such as the Crumpet Manor map, or Project Punchwood. I think that taking part in these new and upcoming projects is a lot of fun, and really helps the sense of community here.

Well that left me with an "okae... So now what?" feeling. I mean, I don't usually go into chat. The posts I leave here are usually well thought out or simply written, and here I am nearing 850 posts. At least I think I am. Post count means nothing, OP. Post count means nothing, likes mean nothing, heck, even the applications meant nothing, if you don't get whitelisted.
Paul didn't make this website, and doesn't shove $700 down the drain every month, for his server. He did it for the Soarvivors! We are bus fanbase, his audience, and his (partial) income. OP assumes we all want to get on the server. Everybody. That is simply not the case. I know for a fact that I won't be whitelisted. I was told not even a thousand high quality posts would get me whitelisted. Heck, I'm pretty sure there's some kind of vendetta against me in particular. But does that fact stop me from being a part of this community?
No, I say! I'll be a part of your community whether I'm on the server or not.
I think, though, that there is nothing essentially wrong with joining to get on the whitelist. That was originally the reason I joined. But give the community a chance because you may find it to be helpful. In fact, I know you will.
It's a good post and it addresses a few of the ongoing issues here but a some people are still missing the the point.
Being active on the forums in not the answer.
Telling new members to be active is not the right thing to do and in fact lessens a players chance of getting on.
Have a look at my blog for some more detailed thoughts if you wish but what new players probably need to hear is this.

The admins are looking for people who are a 'good fit' for the server.
What matters is being yourself, being part of the community here in the forum, contributing in the best way that you can in your own way, not trying too hard, just for the sake of the server but because you like it here and want to be part of it all.
That is all. Telling people just to be active hinders more than it helps, it generates spammy posts and topics that lessen the value of the forum for the whole community.
Don't 'like' my posts, it attracts the chickens. ;)
I know I'm new in this server, and this forums however i think the issue with white listing is more than just being active. i've been around in forums for a while now to grasp at how peoples opinions and perception evolve over time. The fact is just being active doesn't cut it its how you are active that matters.
I know in different forums people that do 100+ posts per day not necessarily spam or useless. However these posts don't get them any improvement of their perception towards the forum and its members. As well as some people that do 5 posts a day but yet these 5 posts manage to get everyone's attention. You don't only need to helpful, it has to be the right kind of help, you have to also prove that your play style, your personality, and your skills is what the server is missing.
Many people here seem to think that everyone here is looking for a whitelist inclusion however that is far from the truth, me for example i came to this site after returning to playing minecraft since 1.1 and while getting updated on paul's survive and thrive i found out about the site. I came here looking for a community that is the right size for me to feel comfortable, in which my opinion is valued, and where i get to meet people who like to give help and be helped, not just for some whitelist acceptance.
I won't say if i get whitelisted eventually i would turn it down heck it would be an honor but thats not what forum activity should be about. Dont post with the objective of getting whitelisted, post with the objective of giving something to the community to help it grow and develop, only when people start doing that is that we will see true quality in these forums.

i don't have minecraft, but i still watch his videos. so the whitelist thing does not bother me. and in my thought, the chatroom is looking, when i first join i told everyone and they helped out! the only promble when to people type, then post at the same time. it's hard to read it all when it's going to so fast!

You are absolutely right. There is nothing wrong with joining to get on the whitelist. But if you think about it, Paul made a whitelist and a server so he has a community. He wanted us to get along
