So I finally got around to fighting the Enderdragon the other day, and let's just say, I spent WAY too much time preparing. I had a full set of enchanted diamond armor, an enchanted bow, three stacks of arrows, six potions, 25 steaks, and more. I was a bit disappointed by how easy the fight was. The Enderdragon is really easy to kill and he can't even hurt you (unless he pushes you off the edge, of course).
I was wondering, do you guys think the fight should be harder? I know there are a couple of mods for making the fight harder, but I would prefer it if the vanilla fight was just changed. If anyone has any other ideas/comments, I would be glad to hear them.

What difficulty did you play on? because he can indeed hurt you.

Jeb is probably going to make the fight harder in 1.3 or 1.4 The statement below is straight from the wiki

I played on Normal difficulty, and when he hit me, it didn't hurt me, I only got knocked back a little.

i havent gotten to fighting him but i play on hard maybe if you do it on hard it will be a bit more challenging, im just guessing here though

Ender dragon should at least shoot fire at you.

I am really hoping that some of my friends will help me kill the Ender Dragon on our server! I am really excited to fight him, and I hope that he is made more difficult in later updates!

There is a mod to make him more difficult. AntVenom did a video on it a couple of months ago.

The fact that you had a full set of enchanted diamond armour is probs why it didnt do much damage.

I agree, diamond armour is known to have very high levels of damage resistance before enchantments. If you had even the lowest level of any protection enchantment, you're laughing. I normally wear enchanted iron armour and even then I have little to fear from mobs.

Well, the difficulty has a lot to do with it.
Also depends if you were shooting him or attacking with your sword.

I'd probably just enchant a bow until I get Infinity 1 and go to The End and keep dat dragons butt. >:3

This is a known bug that will be fixed in 1.3. Quoting the Wiki:
Hitting the Ender Dragons once with any weapons or one of his crystal's explosions will make the player completely immune to the dragon's attack. Restarting the game also seems to correct the bug until you damage it again. (Tested in SMP and SSP)
Normally, the dragon will do 5 hearts of damage when he hits you.
Never start vast projects with half-vast ideas.

i am with njohnson98 but i didn't have armor and i played in hard and the dragon didn't hurt me. I think they need to make the dragon hurt you.

The Enderdragon fight hopefully will be a lot more harder 1.3 cause i think it is easy as well.

I think that pretty much explains things. The only damage I remember taking when when I foolishly destroyed on of the obelisk things with a sword instead of an arrow.
I might have to kill it again when 1.3 comes out.

Maybe because you had full enchanted diamond armor and you healed before you noticed he did anything
