I've got results displaying $9.99 and the like.
First I saw of Team Fortress 2 was in the Valve Orange Box
Wiki page is here: http://wiki.teamfort...Team_Fortress_2

From the Wiki, under Release:

Quote

A beta for Team Fortress 2 was released via Steam on September 17, 2007 for customers who pre-purchased The Orange Box and for those who activated their "Black Box" coupon, which was included with ATI HD 2900XT Graphics cards. In addition to The Orange Box customers, LAN gaming centers using the 'Steam for Cafe' system had the game installed and ready to play.
Team Fortress 2 was released October 10, 2007 as both a standalone product via Steam and at retail stores as part of The Orange Box – a game bundle pack priced at each gaming platform's standard price. The package also contains Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two. and Portal. Valve offered The Orange Box at a $5 discount for those who pre-purchased it via Steam before the October 10 release, as well as the opportunity to participate in the final beta test of Team Fortress 2.

The Orange Box, on Steam now, is $19.99USD http://store.steampowered.com/sub/469/

I'm going to conjecture that it originally shipped for either $30 USD or $60.

Yeah it was 20 dollars, but when I bought it, I got it for 25 dollars because I got it with Garry's mod. It would have been pretty awkward if someone bought TF2 a few hours before it became F2P ._.

You mean like I did? I bought the Orange Box about 3-4 hours before TF2 went F2P. Here, I'll post an image.

The top is from my Steam Store transaction history. The bottom is from TF2's Wikipedia page.

Also, this thread doesn't need to exist. It should probably be discussed in the TF2 discussion thread.

That's just it. There's no evidence to support the theory that it shipped by itself. Notice how in the post you've quoted here, it says "The Orange Box, Magicka"

I'm assuming since they're like that, that it was $29.98 for both.

I bought it as part of the Orange Box back in 2007.  I think I paid like $49.99.  It was a fantastic deal you got five games for the cost of one new game.
I was a Black Mesa employee long before I was an Aperture Science test subject.

It wasn't available outside the Orange Box!!!!!! Excessive Exclamation is Excessive!!!

but seriously, most data points to it only being available in the Orange Box.

Did I mention that it was probably never available outside the Orange Box? Current retail value is $10~. Why does it even matter what it cost before it was Free-To-Play? FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. ^__^

That message wasn't directed at you. It was said to Sylithion.

Anyway, I know for a fact it was released as a "stand-alone" download on Steam, but I have no idea how much it costs. A lot of things are suggesting that it cost somewhere between $15 and $25 USD on Steam, which, to my knowledge, was the only place you could get it without buying the Orange Box.

There is already a Team Fortress 2 Megathread, you are not allowed to make duplicate topics. Please read the rules here:

Minemarty, you're getting a warning for your excessive exclamation marks. At any rate, it appears TF2 was available from Steam, The Orange Box AND as a retail package.
