Whenever I try to connect to a server on TF2, the game crashes. Can anyone help me with this issue?

I have the same issue. I can't play any fancy games like that, because my computer is old and outdated. Is yours like that? That could be what is causing it.
Have a question? Feel free to send me a PM or find me in the chat. :)

It might be your internet is blocking it, unblock hl2.exe from windows firewall.
If it freezes while retrieving server info, go here http://answers.yahoo...21073509AAe8qjl
How long have you waited? Sometimes, while connecting, the game stops responding. This is normal. Just wait a few minutes.

Has this issue been resolved? If not:

1.) Try the methods mentioned in the above post. Sometimes Windows can be finicky about what it lets through the firewall. If you have any virus protection software make sure to unblock hl2.exe from that software's firewall protection as well.
2.) Defrag TF2's game cache files (This done by R-Click on TF2 in your Steam library and click properties, Navigate to "Local Files" in the top tab of the new window that opens and Click "Defragment Cache Files.") TF2 has swollen to over 10G and update after update things can get a little wonky.
3.) Verify Integrity of game cache (This done by R-Click on TF2 in your Steam library and click properties, Navigate to "Local Files" in the top tab of the new window that opens and Click "Verify Integrity of game cache") This is usally a cure-all for most TF2 related problems
4.) If all else fails. Re-DL TF2. Something might have messed up with all the updates Valve has been throwing out due to the Meet the Pyro update.

I know methods 2&3 where mentioned in the link provided above but I couldn't find instructions on how to go about doing it.
