Does anyone have truble planting mushrooms on the ground or is it just me

Me!!! I cant plant the mushroom somehow and I dont know why can someone please tell me?

I tried it once and didn't get them to grow. As I understand it has to be dark, but even in the night they didn't want to grow.

I think there is a certain light level it needs to be under to grow. There also needs to be enough space in all directions.

Thanks alot. The important information for me was, that at night the light levels are considered the same as at daytime.

Ok the rules for making giant mushrooms.

• The mushroom MUST be placed on a dirt block
  
• There must be enough space, preferably visible to the sky
  
• Use bonemeal on the mushroom

And Fabiqui the best way to make more mushrooms is this way and the dark room isnt that reliable.


The light level only matters if you are using a dark room.

If this doesnt work I think Jeb stated that the giant mushrooms are a little glitchy so it may be fixed in a future update.

I just made a large room, i think it was 9 blocks high or so and maybe that wide, put a dirt block in the center, plant the mushroom and hit it with bonemeal and you get the large mushroom.

I don't think you can plant mushrooms in direct sunlight. I tried placing them in a completely-dark room and it worked, but it won't place in day or even night. Only on Micelium.

Make sure they are in a dark place. Plant them on a light level lower than 13.

If you want huge mushrooms you have to have them in a dark room as already said here. But let me ask, are you trying to get giant mushrooms to farm them? Not sure if it is the best way now.

On my survival map i did a huge room, i spent tons an tons of cobble just for a room were fit giant mushrooms. I'm thinking on having an old school mushroom farm to farm them on my next survival map.

The oldschool mushroom farm in a total dark place do not work anymore, somhow, they wil not multiply in a dark room, but in the shades of tree's and so they will multiply.

I think that there is a certain amount of light needed, i think that it will need light but not full, so if you put them on the ground, they need sunlight but they need the same amount of light that zombies need to NOT burn, if you not understand, what is thinkable, cause i am not the best at englisch.

I will test some stuf out if i have enough time and you will hear from me soon on this forum,

You need a five by five platform and needs to be 8 high.  Also if you have mycelium you can just plant it on that.  And their is already a thread on this giant mushroom growing.

that's not true, because they grow in the wild and they wil multiply,
the only thing i cannot figure out, is the way they grow, I saw them grow on bush (low growing trees in the jungle) and the shadow of the trees wil make them enough shade to multiply but maybe your right with the 8 high part

The reason i like the small ones is that they when they multiply they wil do it once a day at least, so I Think they grow faster than wheat.
and it is a waist of bonemeal to make giant mushrooms. (In my opinion)

And, mushrooms need less light than zombies to stop burning. so they need more than that.
Thats the only thing that have tested .

You can't put them under sunlight.
