I have noticed the respect the Punchwood community has for other people. Having been to many forums over the years, that's surprising to me. Usually threads like this devolved into flame wars.

I forgot to mention Halo! My whole family play those games (my sisters and their husbands, and brother and his son). System Link on Halo 2 / Halo Reach are some of the best gaming sessions I've had in my life. All four rooms would erupt into cheers and groans as the end of the match draws near. If you have friends that have a 360, you should check it out.

I still have yet to download games to my PS3 / 360 / Wii, but badly want Mega Man 9 and 10. I always loved the second and the third game on the NES (ended them both when I was about 6 I think).

For the PS3, did you guys ever try connecting a USB - Controller converter and using older controllers? I tried it with my PS2 one and it worked! I was pretty shocked that it actually worked.

Yeah I used a converter to get my Xbox 360 controller working on the Playstation 3 which was pretty cool. I prefer the Xbox 360 controller despite growing up with Playstation based products, saying that I actually use a Playstation 3 controller on my PC as it's better for racing games and that's all I need a controller for on PC. So yeah Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 both use an Xbox 360 controller as weird as that may be lol.

That also works with a PSOne controller, however, because they only send digital signals, there may be certaon problems when playing with the analog sticks.

Is anybody here looking forward to the next console generation?

Kinda, I do like XBOX, PS2 and PS3, I didnt like the XBOX 360 though :\

But the next generation will probably be Wii U, Xbox 720, PS4, all that

Well, there's that. Note that jNaugh was reporting on possible conjecture based on numerous third-party's thoughts and ideas based on what's happened in the last 3-5 years. I'd also venture a guess into that arena. Have you seen the Wii U, that premiered at E3 2012? One might conjecture, then, that there's another new generation of consoles coming.

jNaugh was simply reporting on other's conjecture. There's no need to be wrong or right. Do you have proof of your conjecture? Just Googling 'PS4' shows me this: http://www.google.co...iw=1481&bih=505, and that the PS4 is 'nothing to be excited about'.

I don't know about you, but I always Google something I know little about, if even to know a smidgeon more information. Googling 'xbox 720' shows me more links and not completely irrelevant information: http://www.google.co...iw=1481&bih=505

It's best to not conjecture about new consoles. Microsoft and Playstation are going to be playing their cards very close to chest, so to speak, though Nintendo still seems to have jumped the gun a bit. Maybe the Wii is just the precursor to the Wii U, with the Wii U as their actual attempt at a next-gen console on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I'm sorry for not adding sources, however, these stats are not my own fabrication. I may certainl be wrong, but I just wanted to post what I found out and saw. Admittedly, my formulation was a bit misleading.

It's always nice to see a discussion about consoles being held without anyone causing a problem.  I personally play my Xbox 360 the most, but that's mostly because I simply cannot afford a PS3 at this point.  The only real differences between the consoles are minor at best.  Sure, the Wii doesn't have HD or a good online system, but it has Mario and Zelda, two of my all-time favorite series.  The PS3 has free online and most of the major franchises, plus Uncharted and Rachet and Clank.  The XBox has you paying for online, but probably has the best setup of the 3, plus has Halo and Minecraft.

In the end, they're all good systems if you ask me.
