I want to make a lets play for my youtube channel but i don't want just vanilla minecraft because i feel that a little change cant hurt. so i was thinking maybe mods like invedit and tmi (for turning off rain only) or maybe a extremely moded one with different dimmentions and tons of mobs. what do you think i should do and do you have any recommendations. thanks :)

I think you could do something unique, like load up Alpha version 1.1 or something and play! I don't think anyone else does that :o

I like to keep it simple

You should try Chocolate Quest Mod, It's SUPER fun!! if you do i'll TOTALLY watch your videos, but it makes it a little bit harder instead of regular minecraft is considered "easy".

I'm doing Better Dungeons (part of Chocolate) and Flan's Mod. It's fun, but only if you turn certain things way up.
I'd watch something with the new Star Wars mod, but its not very far done yet.

It depends on what you want to feel of the lets play to be. Also if you like more technical mods such as buildcraft, industrialcraft, redpower, forestry, and others like that or more adventure mods like tale of kingdoms, mo creatures , clay soliders , and many others.

You could try Tekkit? I love it, one of my favorites. Its a mod pack yes, but still tons of fun. It totally changes the game with automation and adding lots of new resources. It's very involving, and involves quite a few new recipes and such, but I use the wiki for that. Go take it for a spin, you'll either love it or hate it xD

If you are using complex mods, get NotEnoughItems and set it to recipe mode. Press 'r' and it will give you it's crafting recipe. press 'u' and it will give you its uses. I find it more useful than risugami's Recipe Book

Well it all depends on what you are looking for. Are you trying to make things simpler, change the game play and experience ect.

The you listed are good for the first thing I said but if you want to change the game play and make things a little more interesting, you go with stuff like Tekkit pack or many others, just do some searching :)

ExtrabiomesXL is hands down one of the best mods for general gameplay. It adds a few new blocks and a TON (I think 27) new biomes to Minecraft. My favorite is probably desert hills. It's so easy to find the most epic valleys and mountains. I even found a hopelessly deformed village when I was testing if the mod functioned okay, and I picked out a house and tricked it out as I usually do on creative or survival. Another good one is Clay Soldiers, but that's better for creative just because of the fact a good arena and worthwhile fights can really only be made in creative unless you have too many resources to do anything with.
