Planetside 2 does look pretty cool. I'm looking forward to it but it won't be around anytime soon sadly.

Planetside 2 is definitely looking very promising so far. I love the fact that the game has insane amounts of players on the battlefield at one time and the game that I left will still be on when I come back. If you are interested in this game you should definitely check out TotalBiscuit's videos about it.

I really want to get into the beta to see how my system holds up to 500+ player battles as that could get a little bit demanding on the ol' graphics card.. Really looking forward to this though, visually it looks beautiful and the persistent combat sounds great. I can see myself being a sniper of some kind and spending hours perched up somewhere miles away just picking off Vanu and New Conglomerate soldiers, I am already 99% sure my allegiances will lie with the Terran Republic.

I signed up also, I really hope I get that e-mail.
I didn't really played fps's when Planetside came out, so I didn't play it. But, I heard a bunch of hype on how good it was. Now, I'm really excited about this! Vanu armor and stuff looks pretty sick so I might join them when it comes out.

I'm going Terran Republic personally. For a f2p fps it looks really cool, and I hope it lives up to how awesome it looks.

It will be around soon they are about to start external beta prolly within the next month so release around the end of the year is my guess

Its not in beta yet but they actually sent me that mail today saying that they are starting the final technical testing before begining the beta asking what my comp specs were. I'm really stoaked having played PS1 for several years I'm really lookin forward to this game and having played ps1 they said offically that past ps1 players get priority on beta access

Just taken the survey with my system specs.. By the way those with lower than higher end systems do not be daunted about giving them your system specs it will not affect your ability to get into the beta, if anything it will give you a better chance as they already know the ceiling for this game they already know that 4Gb RAM, Intel i5 2500K and GTX 670 is what you'll need to max the game at 60FPS so if you have that or higher they aren't learning anything from you.. It's those with the lower end systems they will learn a lot from.
As another reminder though whether you have a beast rig or not do get on their forums when the beta launches and please be helpful, do not see this beta as "oh gee! yay for me! free game!!" as they ultimately need you to outline any bugs you find. So that will mean being annoying as hell and posting every fault you see even if you see a million threads about the same issue as the developers need to know just how widespread it is. If 3000 people all say "the MAX suit weapons aren't hitting" then they know it's probably a game wide thing.. If only 3 people say it then it could be isolated to a faction. The more work you do the better the game will be..

I'm looking forward to Planetside 2, but my experience with SOE has been less than stellar in the past. Yes, I'm a jaded ex-SWG player.
Then they had a great idea in Planetside and more or less let it stagnate. They were obsessed with balancing act between the Jackhammer, Mini-Chaingun and Lasher, never even attempted to improve the copy and pasted base designs, and Core Combat, while mildly fun for a while, was much less an expansion and more a waste of time. After about a month, no one bothered going into the cores to get upgrades.
Negative? Perhaps. But experience has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Planetside as a franchise is one that, if done well, they could hang their hats on like they did the first Everquest. Here's to hoping they get it right...finally.
Edited to add - Watch the cash shop. Watch it closely. If there's any game that's in danger of becoming "pay to win", this is it. I was really disheartened by the free to play model, because when you're relying on micro-transactions, it's real tempting to start tossing out experience and/or stat boosts for money.

Does anyone know when exactly IGN will start giving away the non-prime beta keys? I don't want to stay up late only to fall asleep at 5am, wake up at 10am and find out they gave them away at 8am and there aren't any left.
