Hello all,

Here is a thread to discuss the Civilization series. You can talk about gameplay tactics, what you like about the game, funny stories or maps, which of the series' games you played, or just talk about Paul's Civ 5 adventures with his family.

Enjoy! ;)

I think the best game is Civilization 3, beacause it was the game that made me hooked :P

Yeah that's the one that got me hooked too :D

I'm surprised that so many people live civ5 though, there are so many negative reviews for it out there.
I do think its quite buggy, anyone else agree? But it has some major improvements over the other games as well.

My fave thing about civ 5 is how you can use the terrain and unit placement to plan out battle and defense strategies.

Whats your favorite way to try to win the game?

I always liked cultural or science wins, or getting ahead in science and nuking everyone before they could defend, but then early military attacks are fun too.
:/ hard to decide.

I've always liked the civ series but civ 5 is the best cause of the good grahics (compared to older civ's) and great gameplay!

when you conquer a city, it pays off to annex and build a courthouse rather than puppet

I really like the Danish Civ DLC for civ 5, they have replacements for the longswordsman and the rifleman, those guys hit hard.

I haven't played anything other than 5, since Paul was actually the one who got me to buy the game.
I really enjoy science so far, though I've always been one to go for the non militaristic ways of doing things.

Except if there's a threatening civilization..

I am also a Science man, but often I like a good cultural victory.

I love Civilization Revolution.. I mean who wouldn't want a Civ game that can fit in your pocket and be taken on the go?

Civ IV and Civ II are my favorites. I used to do a lot of modding for Civ 3 over at CivFanatics. While I like the one-unit-per-tile and hex grid change of Civ 5, I just don't think they ever got the AI to work that well with it. I am looking forward to the Gods & Kings expansion though.

I think IV and V are both good, but in different ways. I really enjoyed the depth of IV, and hope to see some of that with the new expansion. What I like a lot about V is that it isn't always so nit-picky as IV, and overall more fun to play. I cant really decide if i like fun or a good challenge.

I just play Civ V (Seeing Paul's video make me want to try ;)) so it's of course my favorite.
It's really a lot of fun to play. I've read on the web that a lot of people think the V is not so great compared to the previous one but for me, it's cool ! And maybe the expansion will please everybody.

And I'm kind a science guy ! (but culture is cool too ! and also military !)

But it is far too simplified! I love the graphics and everything, but seriously, no religion? Æ vil væra ein søn av Odin!

I'm going to love and tolerate the crap out of you.
